  • Slight signs of seepage under the capsule. Decanted an hour or so before drinking.
Cherry, raspberry, strong floral - rose, spice, good acidity. Fruit a bit dissipated - better with an hour or so of air. A bit light but elegant. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable. 90+

  • 14% alcohol. Bottle size only 72 cl.

Luminous and rather pale cherry jam color with a slightly maroon hue. Very developed - old, even - nose with aromas of dusty earth, sandy soil, some sweet pruney fruit and a hint of cherry marmalade. Overall the nose feels very aged with noticeable tertiary character but rather little depth or complexity. The wine feels full-bodied rather developed on the palate, but contrasting the quite one-dimensional nose, there are a lot of nuanced notes of developed and slightly pruney fruit, sweet black cherries, some wizened red plums, a little bit of peppery spice, a hint of sour cherry bitterness and a touch of fresh, tart cranberry. Overall the wine comes across as quite balanced with its good, rather high acidity and still moderately grippy medium-plus tannins. The finish is dry, grippy and long with savory dried-fruit flavors of pruney dark fruits, wizened black cherries, some tar and a hint of ripe cranberry.

A very classic and beautifully aged Barbaresco. Not perhaps the most interesting or the most complex effort, but thoroughly lovely nonetheless. The nose is a bit dusty and underwhelming, but the wine is singing beautifully on the palate, retaining good structure and showcasing very nicely developed fruit notes. Very nice effort that is a treat on its own and packs enough punch that it can be paired even heartier dishes.
