  Wednesday Nebbiolos (Gino's, Portland OR): This was extremely pretty and deep after just a few swirls in the glass. There is a higher-toned nature to it with layered tones of mint, menthol, licorice, dark red cherries, sweet dark red fruits, raspberries, currants, strawberries, petrichor, cinnamon, wild flowers, violets, and some savory notes. This is perfumed and sexy to a point where you really want to take every bit of it in. The Full bodied feel is refined and poised with tart, high acidity and silky, high tannins. There is still ample structure, but it has begun to step back and become more of a role player. This was the wotn and it was a real treat. The aromatics have really turned on and the feel shows how this has hit another gear.

  Excellent example of textbook Barolo. Entering its peak, I gave it a 3 hour decant, and it opened nicely. Leather, licorice, floral, rose petals, plum and tobacco leaf notes. Tannins and acidity very well integrated. Wonderful palate also, with the tobacco notes wrapping the floral accents. Wotn. I don’t see more aging will improve it so drink it within the next 5 years. I would buy it at current prices, if found

  On the nose: Licorice, salvia, cherry, sweet fruit, acetone and alcohol.
  On the palate: Sweet fruit, licorice, fine smooth tannin structure.
  Medium + finish

  2007 E Altare Barolo La Morra vs 2008 R Ratti Barolo Rocche:
  - Beide belüftet
  - Farbe: Altare deutlich brauner. Ratti fast blutrot.
  - Altare duftet schon etwas nach weichem Leder. Ist also vielleicht schon über dem Peak. Schwache Frucht, schon aufgelöste Tannine. Insgesamt aber schon etwas dumpf
  - Ratti dagegen sehr fruchtig. Kaum Tannine. Schon rund und ausgewogen
  - Ratti knapper Sieger, wobei die Weine eigentlich nicht zu vergleichen sind.

  Stor doft av örter, tallbar, salvia och jenka.
  Fyllig och elegant smak av mogna körsbär, ljus choklad och vanilj. Burgundisk och silkig textur med mjuk tanninstruktur. Klunkvänlig modern Barolo utan direkt tanninbett. Lång behaglig eftersmak, insmickrande och snyggt vin.
