  • Bottles donated from the Henschke cellars. Complex aromatics of wild sage and other herbs, smoke, cassis, blueberry and violets. The palate is supple and accessible, yet so deep and detailed. It has wonderful texture and build and the finish fans out and closes with fruit and menthol.

  • Medium ruby colored with some purple reflections. In the nose dark violets, licorice, lots of different earthy notes and some menthol notes. On the palate dark cherries, plum, wet forest floor, ripe mushrooms and lots of earthy truffle flavors. Medium (+) bodied with a medium acidity. Tannins are beautifully integrated but feel e little too polished. Way lighter and more elegant than I thought it would be. Great complexity and structure and an amazing fruit depth. Very good overall balance - on the second day it softened out even more and was utterly delicious. Long savory and dark berried finish.
In a good spot but make sure to decant it for at least 3 hours to soften out a bit. Drink now until 2030. (IG)

  • WOW! First an attempt to describe the flavours, which doesn't even get close to telling the full experience. It is medium to full bodied. Figs, plums, cloves with faint eucalyptus and damson. Very similar profile to the same year's Mount Edelstone, but up a level in silky smoothness. Long. Sublime. This is one of these very few wines I've tasted where the experience transcends description and you just sit back stunned and enjoy it. Extraordinary. ******

  • Purple rim black heart in colour.
Silky, medium weight fruit, ahead of the Mount Edelstone on quality, more of everything and better delivery. Balanced as a young wine, spice to enjoy, nothing over run or over rought. A seamless delivery of quality, pristine fruit. Lovely mocha mid palate. Long finish, a wine of heart, excellent tannin integration.

  • Drank this alongside a 2006 Grange and this was even better. Incredibly smooth wine with a lingering aftertaste.
