Community Tasting Notes (3)

  • nose - savory, olive, sweaty sock
mouth - impressively concentrated and though its mostly tertiary you can still sense the fruit power. sweet/smoky and slightly herbal reminiscent a bit of a digestif. Not dead at age 46. would be good with some strong cheese at the end of the night.

  • No rating because I’ve never had anything like this. 45 years old!

Nose is entirely tertiary—tobacco smoke, graphite, leather, tar, maybe some molasses, and some stringency from anise.

Palate surprisingly has some red fruit left and reasonable acid. Extremely smooth and fills the mouth, but feels weightless. Medium bodied and fully resolved tannins.

Finish is cherry stem, potting soil, wet forest floor, and quite long.

I enjoyed it for the intellectual experiment that it was, but this is not a go-to wine at all. Not a crowd pleaser and not something I would serve without serious consideration of the consumer.

  • For a relatively novice wine drinker, this is an experience for sure. The nose is full of earth, wet leaves, forest floor, but also heavy on tobacco, cigar smoke, whiskey, tar, caramel, anise. On the palate, this wine has almost no acidity, is super light, and has very mild notes of cherry. The finish is decently long on this wine and fairly pleasant. Fun experience! No rating because I've never had anything close to compare.
