The bottle was decanted to get rid of sediment and then put back into the bottle. Needs time to get rid of brett, ca. 2 hours in the bottle after the decant. Afterwards showing nice fruit, leather, forest floor, still some acidity and integrated tannins. Elegant and pleasant but not special. Showing that Chateau Sirans wines are long lived.

90 minutes in the decanter provided ample time for the barnyard notes to blow off leading to aromas of black fruit, worn catchers mitt, cigar box, & damp earth. The fruit is still showing & the tannins were well integrated.

Needed lots of breathing - after 2 hours of decanting dirty notes of farm and manure did let red fruits with velvety cedar and tobacco notes to come up. After couple of hours it just started to show of. Decent and elegant, but far from great.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind. Rich black fruit and cassis with good weight, albeit slightly simple. There was a mustiness that seemed slightly dirty here, and made me wonder if this was slightly corked, but nobody else agreed. That mustiness never disappeared, so I had trouble enjoying the wine.
