  • Bottle 2 of 2. 2" cork in excellent condition. Decanted 60 minutes. Some chunky sediment left in the bottle. Colour is deep purple tending toward garnet. Aromas of cherry, leather, balsamic, sweet tobacco. On the palate: replays plus smoke. Full body, high (-) acid, XD, medium tannin, medium alcohol (13.5%). Finish was a little watery. Was better with food.

Not a whole lot of evolution over five years. If anything I liked my first bottle better in 2018. Drink or hold.

  • Deep deep in color and viscosity even after a decade and surely ageable for another half-decade if not more, this was unlike any of the several margaux I have had and was not notably satisfactory in any respect. Everything from nose to finish, and for the sure the basic tastes, was slightly vegetally. Others mention bell pepper, and I suppose so, but also the water and steam the pepper was cooked in. I was very surprised.

It did look beautiful and started with an arguably promising nose. I thought because it still seemed so youthful that it needed lots air, but it was no better an hour later with chocolated cookies than it had been with grilled swordfish and grilled corn.

  • Despite other tasting notes I really enjoyed this Margaux. Couple of hours decanted and this was ready to drink and later in the evening was still vibrant and plummy. Merlot notes gives this quite a delicate softness and roundness.

  • trop d’élevage par rapport à la matière, ce qui se traduit par une amertume torréfiée. Manque de charme et de fond.

  • 🏅 Rating 89/100 (3,9⭐)

Opens with blackcurrant jam. Develops with bell pepper, graphite. Some bitterness on the aftertaste. Dusty.
Already drinks well, but will develop more with some bottle aging.
    Good value for money Margaux.
