  • Nothing wrong with this wine but nothing special either...
The fruit is drying up and tannins and acidity remain.
I very much appreciate the older style California Cab but expected it to have aged a little better.
Base neck fill and cork came out in one piece in good condition.
Some nice cedary and earthy notes but lacks a little in complexity. Not the top-flight aged Cab Sauv I expected...
    Drink up!

  • Clean cork. Needs a decant due to sediment, but approachable immediately after opening. Garnet color in the glass, with fading rim. Mature aromas of raspberry, red cherry, leather and graphite. The palate bring juicy red currant, more cherry, forest floor and herbal notes. Acidity is still medium-high, and tannins are fully integrated and very light. Held up well in the decanter over a 2+ hour dinner. Drinking well in a mature style, but I don't see this getting any better. Drink now or over the next few years.

  • Pop and pour. From a pristine bottle. Opaque, very dark maroon color. The nose was a bit closed at first but didn't take too much swirling to get the black cherry fruit, cedar, forest floor. Palate is smooth, medium to full bodied, with the tannins fully integrated. Reminds me of dark chocolate covered cherries. Beautiful wine.

  • ChrisD's 40th: Kirsch, redcurrant, licorice and forest floor character - I really like the red fruit and overall restrained ripeness evident here. The palate is in a nice place, with tannins still supporting but resolving out, good acidity and still some fruit presence, makes this an interesting and appealing mature wine.
