bottle, fill and cork all good, but sadly, not up to its usual high standard. Deep gold color, not corked, but just blank and uninteresting. I am still a fan of this reliable burg, just not this bottle.

Bottle and fill excellent, cork was soaked about 2/3 up. I always love the old vintages of this wine. Slightly golden in color, but brightening with air and evolving nicely over 2 hours. Honey, field grass, a little smoke, good acidity, but not a hard edge to it - lovely wine and a perfect white burg. This is a' point now, but not fading.

Blind at The Medlar 2 (The Medlar, London): Mid straw. Fragrant nose, lots of juniper with melon and spice coming through with air. A touch of pineapple too. Reminds me of something but I can't quite place it. Chenin? Or a Cotat Sancerre? Oops! An excellent match for the white onion soup. ****

Past it's prime, but not premox. Nutty notes but short and dry. Not worth going too far with.

A burgundy lunch (La Trompette, Chiswick, London): Rounder than the Leflaive, smooth slightly earthy Chardonnay fruit, not showing its age at all, very pleasant
