Burgundy Dinner with Friends (71 Above - Los Angeles CA): Certainly still fresh enough for nearing 50 yo. Not much forthcoming aromatically, but there are rich flavors showcasing mature apple and apple cider character. Still good.

Pulled from a cold cellar. Youthful pale straw color. Nose of wet rocks, lemons, sea shells, stinky cheese, and some white flowers. Equally as good in the mouth - palate covering yet with still plenty of acid. Dried nectarines, barrel toast, tangy acidity and some hints of fig. Alive and still kicking - even after the bottle had been open an hour. More Chablis than Napa Chardonnay.

Maderized, with a nutty, sherry and pertrol quality, not much fruit remained.

Toffee, nutty nose. Lemon custard, caramel apple and sweet honeysuckle on the nose. On the palate, sweet, flinty and great acidity.
