  • Dim Sum Club goes Back to Burg (Asia Grand, Odeon Towers): Quite delightful. This was the first of three (serendipitous) blind bottles of Gevrey 1er Crus, and probably the best of the trio. It had a simply fantastic nose. Very tertiary, with lots of dried earth and forest floor notes weaving in and out of lovely fragrant floral accents and sweet dried fruited scents - plums and cranberries and morello cherries. Very perfumed, very lovely. I thought the palate was just starting to show signs of thinning out, but on the day, it was still really charming, with a lovely glowing expression of dried cherries and red berries laced with dried earth and forest floor and sprinkled with bits of spice. Wonderfully resolved, this was mellow and silky on the one hand, yet still had a lovely balance and remnants of a muscular structure on the other. Delightful, but about time to drink up.
