  Not a wine style I have much experience with, so I am not providing a numerical rating. I enjoyed the wine. It had had nice depth and aged flavors that I struggled to resolve. But it was also crisp and angular like a young wine waiting to settle down. Odd, but enjoyable.

  Huge! It took the barnyard descriptor to other levels, showing large mammal urine, as the part of zoos that houses elephants, giraffes, and rhinoceros, etc., smells. I asked J. F. Bourdy about the difference between this and the 1990, and to him it was a function of vintage. The 'zooyard' did not appear to strike him as anything beyond the norm. Otherwise, tremendous acid and power.

  Funk and light petrol on the initial nose, with creamy lemon, papaya and smoke with air time. A sticky textural palate with saline notes and a steely acid finish. Worked well with fluke and sea urchin.
