  • Consistent with my prior notes, a little more honey and grassy tones coming out with the bottle age. Beautiful, refreshing yet complex wine and I can't wait to open my one remaining bottle, although I'll try to keep my hands off of it for as long as possible.

  • Interesting and quite uncommon nose made from walnuts, veggie broth, mushrooms, apple cider, some honey, oyster shell and earthy notes. Very nutty and earthy on the palate, quick acidic peak, again some salty/seaweed notes and some old mouldy wood. Understand the quality of this and imagine it to be a great pairing for a few specific dishes, but for drink-alone a bit exhausting. Probably a love or hate wine

  • Not everyone's cup of tea again, but I absolutely adore this wine. The oxidative character doesn't dominate things, but there is a lively sherry-ish tang to the flavours and aromas, very nutty and dry. Plenty of fruit and zest to the aromas. Great flavour and concentration, awesome acidity and length for nearly 30 seconds. Good straight from a pop and pour but ideally needs a decant. Better as it warmed up to room temperature. Nearly 10 years old now, but still maybe too young. I have 2 bottles left I'm trying to avoid looking at for maybe another 10 years at least.

  • Random wine ark boys supper (Banksia, Sydney): muted sweet spice on the nose. Quite subtle and light on the palate with plentiful slightly unripe citrus flavours. Perhaps a little short.

  • Oxidative pineapple skin, cellar funk and peach syrup on the nose. Blind, the group I was with was confronted on the nose by what this had to offer, yet all agreed it was very food friendly. Hardly recognisable as a Chardonnay, but still with some minerality and tinned peach, lemon curd and citrus peel characters to it.... A very distinctive wine, yet restrained in the context of what the Jura has to offer. Looking forward to what my remaining bottles have to offer over the next 15-25 years.
