  • Nice deep gold color on this. Nose has a fair amount of oak in it still, although it is beginning to recede and become more balanced. I smell more pear & melon than oak now, supported by decent minerality. 7 years has not diminished a very full nose one bit, it would appear. Good entry, great finish with plenty of mineral qualities in it. Pear & citrus qualities are evident, but not nearly as much as in the nose. The oak is getting more balanced, and overall does not overwhelm the other qualities while in the mouth. Another couple of years might help subdue the oakiness a bit more --- maybe. I'm not sure I would want to let this go much beyond the end of the decade.

  • Medium gold color, quite deeply colored for a young Chablis. Full and oaky nose with good minerality and ripe pear, apricot and lemon, THe flavors carry over to the nose, the significant minerality balancing the fat fruit flavors and considerable oakiness. Decent balance and average length. I am disturbed how marked by oak most of Drouhin's Chablis are (and generally I don't MIND oak as long as it's in balance, which this barely is).
