deepish brooding red color, a curious alcohol-like note on the nose that dissipated with time, roasted fruits, on the palate completely and totally shut down with only dark fruit and clove hints in evidence, impossible to get a read on this and given the nature of the event (and the number of wines to get through), I only got to visit this once about 2 hours after it had been opened, the Clos Vougeot has always been a top wine at Jadot in my experience- and so normally one would just say this needs more time, however the 2012 vintage has been a bit concerning here overall- the Clos Saint Denis was glorious at release and yet recently is just as muted as the Clos Vougeot and a recent encounter with a Beaune 1er cru also left questions as to whether it would fully resolve, within the past year the 2012 Amoureuses also proved surprisingly closed- though it did show its future glory well with about 4 hours of airing, Jadot wines often need an uncommonly long rest in the cellar- so time will tell, but across the board I am finding the wines more reluctant and dusty than expected- even given the fact that 11 years is on the young side for a Jadot grand cru or top premier cru.
judgment reserved- this was too tight for me to even get a good read on volume, but the wine is in balance, I would wait another decade on this, 2035++

Wow. So complex - gentle aromas of herbs, flowers, and light fruits. Smooth on first taste with a long yet gentle finish. I tasted out of an argon pressure system at Zachys in Port Chester - not sure how long the bottle had been open.

Burgundy BBQ (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Small glass. Lots here, but this needed plenty of air or more cellar time. Completely inaccessible for now, everything lost behind a firm structural wall, but with lots of density and still lots of potential.

Summer BBQ (Chicago, IL): Surprisingly backwards and tannic (more so than I would expect from Jadot). Not much fruit to give up here right now; this has a bit of a characteristic earthy dirtiness that I get from Clos Vougeot. Not a convincing showing today.
