  I will need to try this again ... with a proper bottle. Thankfully, was only slightly damaged: smell was fine, but cork was in an odd condition (slight discoloration up the side of the cork). As a result, the wine was overwhelmed with an oakey flavour. Quite a bit of clumpy sediment found at the bottom of the bottle as well. A testament to the wine -- it was enjoyed regardless.
