Aged Bordeaux (Restaurant St. Jack): A hint of brett on the nose that actually blew off pretty quickly. Super bright red fruit. No way I'd have guessed this was so old. 10% of me thinks it's been manipulated to blended in some way and isn't actually a 62, that's how fresh it was. Some animal and then tobacco on the palate. quickly faded though, so maybe it was genuine.

Older Bordeaux at St. Jack: Poured from magnum from recent original cellar stash. The aromas are nicely soft fruited. Quite pretty. The palate entry is instantly beautiful and integrated showing plenty of red fruits and elegant texture. Quite together and in balance on a very soft docile frame. Good spicy earth on the finish that lingers a while. Soil and quartz notes linger and amazing acidity. Fantastic considering the classification. Goes to show what original cellar stock is worth! One of the most balanced wines of the night. It was 91 at peak, but did begin to lose some its energy and balance in just the 30 minutes it was in the glass. It'd drop it a point if scored later.

Fruity nose immediately after opening, quite a hint of ash. Two hours later (after decanting) it was much more settled and had really opened up. Surprisingly fruity - red berries. Bit of a minty hint too and quite a smell of rubber. Taste was great and really followed up on the nose of berries, quite light. The wine improved with time, we finished the magnum about 5 hours after opening. Altogether a very enjoyable and interesting wine.
