La Paulée Chevalier Fête (Saison - San Francisco CA): In 09/10/11/12 vertical from the domaine. This struck me as much like the 2009 vintage - very ripe and concentrated, seeming more "fun" that classically powerful right now, but with so much in reserve, giving it backward character. Give this cellar time for that baby fat to soften.

Domaine Fourrier Wine Dinner with Jean-Marie Fourrier (Nomi, Chicago): This is my second tasting of this wine this year with consistent performance. I am a big fan of the 2012s. This wine has excellent concentration and depth of fruit. It has the classic Gevrey iron and mineral presence. The nose has a lovely floral perfume. This is just another great bottle.

Did not particularly care for this. Almost entirely defined by ripeness today. Needs more time.

Lunch with 2012 and 2013 Fourrier CSJ and Griotte, 95 Raveneau Blanchot, 05 Leflaive Chevalier and more (Black Salt, Washington DC): Drank single blind alongside the 2013. There's a bit more going on here than the Clos St. Jacques in terms of complexity and variety of flavor. Mineral and spice and yes, delicious primary red fruit. While the Clos St. Jacques begs you to guzzle it, the Griotte is more of of thinking wine that urges you to decipher the kaleidoscope of flavors it offers.
