Fourrier Griottes pre-Jean-Marie (The Ledbury, London): The sommelier thought this out of condition, but no one round the table had a problem with it. Tight, fresh, with a minty tone, then a bit spirity, with a cherry liqueur quality. Attractive.

Fourrier Griottes (The Ledbury, London): A slightly cheesey red fruited nose. Dark red fruit, a savouriness and a sense of minerality here. Again a slight dryness, somewhere between the dry-edged 90 and the slightly (ever so) dry-finished 85. Quite full, some density and a minerally persistence on the surprisingly long finish. ***1/2
