Agree with others. This very striking woody/stemmy note on the nose. Dominating for the first hr open. It's a 2011 green vibe if I didn't know the vintage. The palate though is medium bodied and succulent. Very strange combination. I think this just needs a lot more air, but would be cautious.

Seattle Chevaliers taste Chablis and Gevrey-Chambertin (Seattle, WA): A smoky, scorchy, ashtray thing jumps right out at me, and then John points out the green notes. Definitely a spicy, stemmy, bell pepper edge. It seems to be too much for the people around me, but I liked the edginess. The palate is a different story, deep, laser focused, really pure and very interesting. This is a classy and assertive wine.

A rather delightful village wine. A slightly wild nose of red fruit, herbs and underbrush. The palate has good concentration and acidity with notes of red cherry, violets and spice. Good and will improve.

Unfortunately there are off bottles of this out there but this is a good one. Rather firm and crisp but there is also delicious bluish cherry fruit and a really great iron mineral streak which is classic Gevrey. The finish is beautifully taut and crunchy with notes of moist wood and forest floor. I think this style is not for everyone but I also think Denis makes wine to age even at the village level. This got really fine and silky later on but still remains a bit raw. 91+

I3. Quite a stemmy wine that was off-putting to many. Blind, I would have said a 2011 or 2006. I still enjoyed it. Tasting at Phenol.
