  • 30 min decant out of a magnum based on prior tasting notes. Despite the hot year the fruit is not highly pronounced, fair bit of minerality.

  • This time we did not decant the wine and opened it less than 30 minutes before dinner. The results were better than previous bottle (2 years ago). The wine has lovely fruit flavors and mouthfeel, and it worked very well with rare steaks. However, it doesn't have the complexity and structure of a great Bordeaux, notwithstanding Parker's 97 points, "amazing" and a "modern day classic". It started to "run out of gas" about 90 minutes in (by which time we were almost done with the bottle, so no harm). I don't see this getting better with more age, and I do not recommend decanting or opening much before consumption.

  • From 375ml. Sadly this is goodbye and good riddance. Very stewy on the nose, overwhelming fig and raisin. Coffee, chocolate, cherry and tons of stewed fruit on the palate. Massive, chunky sediment. For a prefect provenance bottle this is disappointing. The wine is crashing. I enjoyed this wine a ton back in 2007, but it has aged ponderously.

  • Lovely crowdpleaser ! Magnum! Opened 4 h ! No decant. A joy to drink with round tannin, warm fruits and a slightly herbal touch. Everybodys darling. Not the most complex red but if you want to drink and not to talk about it, drink this ! Drink up

  • First of two reds with NY strip steak dinner. Decanted 1.5 hours. Opulent, explosive at the beginning of the meal, but not much complexity and it seemed to thin out too quickly. Some of the other CT comments rang true. Though initially a crowd-pleaser, I was expecting more length and finesse (which the '03 Pichon Lalande more than supplied).
