  • OK but not earth shattering and without soul.

Lacking punch and more herbs than fruit. No depth and intensity in the body and certainly not yummy. Dry, slightly soapy and slightly oaky. Unexciting.

    Drink now to 5+ years.

  • A selection from my somm at K&L.
PnP (on vacation in AirBnB in Tahoe so was challenged to do much more)
Impenetrably dark with garnet on the rim.
First note on the nose is cedar. Almost soapy. Dare I say Irish Spring?
Lavender, oolong tea and cassis come through as well.
On the palate, it's consistent with the nose.
    Medium acidity.
Prominent tannins still but well integrated and not at all drying.
Black plum, blackberry, menthol, Herbs de Provence, black tea.
    And that soap again.
    Great balance and length.
Would have given it a better score had it not reminded me of Irish Spring.

  • My second bottle of this. Opened for 2 hours. On the nose: Expressive Rich plums, dark chocolate, cherry, cassis and vanilla. On the palate : Fabulous ripe plums, cassis liquor , graphite, green olive and dark chocolate. Finish is long. Mouthfeel is dense, sensuous and broad. This is about as good as wine gets in my book. This is a dessert island wine.

  • Opened for 2.5 hours before tasting. Nose of plum, dark cherry and a hint of olive. The taste is incredible; plums, cherry, a bit of dark chocolate and vanilla and some herbal notes. Big tannins. Still very young. This is a sexy and sensuous beast of a wine. Hard to beat this in my book for good Bordeaux. I had a Pavie in London at Dinner before the Covid 19 lock down that I loved, but this Pavie Decesse is putting most of my recent Bordeux’s to shame.

  • Still young. But quite elegant at this stage. Gritty tannins, but goes good with the long finish on this wine.
