  • Tasted blind, this wine had a deep yellow center with clear rims. The medium intensity nose offered up vanilla, candle wax, almond paste, and some white stone.

In the mouth, this was rich and ripe but had a slightly odd flavor profile. It had good acidity and very good length. It was rich but still tasted a bit lean.

While this will change with time, I doubt it will get better.

  • tasted at a tasting, this wine had a medium yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose displayed pears, minerals, vanilla, and some citrus.

In the mouth, this wine was medium bodied with crisp acidity and excellent length.

Overall, this came across as a lean, acid focused wine without the ripe drama that a year like 1992 delivers. However, it was interesting and would be good with shellfish. While this will last for 5+ years, I see no great reason to wait.

  • Dinner(s) with friends; 5/21/2006-5/22/2006 (Northern Ohio): Quite youthful in color. An opulent, focused nose with buttery minerals and a maturing nutty character. A wonderfully penetrating mineral core and, while a more medium-bodied Montrachet, not lacking in any way. Picks up weight and rounds out well with air. Delightfully oily texture. Really good.
