  • Very similar to 2022 except that I didn’t get any blackberries or liquorice on nose or palate today.
Principality earth, forest floor & leather.
    Medium bodied. Low tannins.
This is still very drinkable and I guess that the RP prediction of drinking window to 2030 is probably correct.

  • Perhaps I had a better bottle than some, because I really loved this.

The nose is wonderful, a perfumed and insistent blend of old rose, wild strawberry and red cherry, with hints of nutmeg and leather. It's so capativating that I had to pause for a few minutes before even having the first sip, just enjoying the fragrances.

When the first sip came, it was no disappointment - the same sensations as the nose, so ripples of rose, wild strawberry and red cherry, which spread outwards, across the palate, before a very long, persistent finish.

This is a quintessential Margaux made in a traditional way, so focused on elegance and fragrance rather than body and concentrated fruit. That's what I like so I was not disappointed.

True, it doesn't quite have the power of the 2000, and it won't last as long, but this is a delicious example of Brane and for my taste at least, a little underrated.

  • 90 minute decant. Strong nose of tobacco leaf and dried red fruits. Palate delivers layers of red currant, stones, tobacco, and gravely soil along with a few fresh red pepper notes. Persistent but smooth and resolved tannins show an angular edge on the finish, adding red cherry, red clay, and dusty soil with just a touch of oak. I think it can certainly hold a few years but not as long as some critics are quoting.

  • Medium garnet.
    Blackcurrants,liquorice, raisins & earthy nose.
Not a great deal of fruit left on the palate, some leather, forest floor.
RP says drink up until 2030, I think 2/3 years.
