Bern's Steakhouse (Tampa): The oldest bottle of wine I have ever consumed. Putting aside the eurphoria of trying something this old, I could not believe how much I enjoyed this. Pre-phylloxera vines. The cork crumbled. Wine was decanted and drank over 2 hours. This kept improving. A dense and striking nose of dark fruit, tea, iron and earth along with a very distinct and dominate banana bread batter note. All this carried through to the palate which was the most perfectly balanced wine I have ever had and carried with it a viscosity and glossy texture that I will probably never experience again. Very long and pure finish. A real eye-opening experience!
