Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • An elegant old Bordeaux from a supposedly weak year drinking well at the end of its brief adulthood. I got this at an estate sale for $20, covered in old paint splatters. God only knows how it was kept. Slight seepage and some nastiness underneath the foil but intact cork and not a ton of sediment. Decanted and drank over 90min with duck breast and spiced lentils. Slight bricking and intermediate in color. Initial game- and- leather nose gave way to more perfume of toasted cedar, spiced cherries. Not much graphite here. Medium body and feminine, with well-integrated tannins matching perfectly with a still bright acidity and the little fruit left well represented. Certainly not a top wine but exhibiting all the charm of an aged Margaux. If you randomly have a bottle of this, drink it ASAP - nearing the end of its life.
