Bordeaux 2022 en Primeur and some recent vintages: Even slightly better than the 2016. The tannin quality here is to die for, pure silk in addition beautiful dark berry and earthy aromatics. A very grand wine. For a price below 100 bucks a no brainer.

Bordeaux 2022 barrel tasting event (Papiersaal Sihlcity, Zürich): Main takeaways: 1/ Despite a considerable amount of hype, this came across as bi-polar vintage with for every insanely good wine at least one dead-on-arrival counterpart. 2/ High alcohol levels, over-extraction and cooked fruit appear to be common pitfalls. 3/ Top wines were 1. Figeac (98), 2. Brane Cantenac (97), 3. Les Carmes Haut Brion (96). Full list of 20 wines and scores in included in the tasting story.
Tasting note: This was the biggest surprise for me. A beautiful nose of chocolate, espresso and roasted coffee beans supplementing a ripe and pretty classic fruit profile. The palate is perfectly harmonious with soft texture and supple tannin. This reminded more of Chateaux Margaux than of Brane-Cantenac which while consistently solid, typically throws hands in a lower weight class. This could in fact prove to be the best wine from this estate to date, also easily surpassing all more recent great vintages like 2009, 2010, 2015 or 2016.

Bordeaux 2022 barrel samples and some additional vintages (Solliden in Stockhom): With dark berries. The most powerful and most difficult Margaux to assess due to the need of much more age amongst all the Margaux wines tasted (I didn't taste Ch Margaux, Palmer or Rauzan-Segla).
Bordeaux 2022 primeur tasting.

Langton's Bordeaux En Primeur 2022 tasting (Langham Hotel, Kent Street, Sydney): Blackcurrant, cream, slight violet , sweet spice, cedar, a little plain chocolate and plum. Juicy, similar flavour profile, plenty of grippy talc textured tannins persists long, past the fruit in fact. Hmm
