  • Remarkably fresh, despite colour development. Wonderful, as not completely tertiary, with fresh stonefruit still evident on bouquet and lovely layers of complex flavours, with creamy soft acidity. Just a WOW wine.

  • Cork perfect. 1 hr in carafe. Deep bronze colour. Large bq w nuts, sweet brioche dough, quince, well integrated oak, touch of minerals (stone smoke?). Full bodied, very powerful, w ripe yellow fruit, nuts, very balanced acidity, touches of lemon zest, Long, intense aftertaste w some mineral saltiness. Lovely wine! While it is now middle-aged, it doesn't need to retire at all!

  • Rich golden apricot colour. Nose is honeysuckle, caramel, vanilla, sweaty acacia, fresh crushed almonds. Heavenly. Palate is similar but richer and more intense with more burnt caramel and toasted oak together with crushed fresh lemons. No hint of oxidization. Sharp. Precise. Great length and superb rich intense resonance in the head on the finish. The best bottle I have had. Enjoyed with Greg and Sayo over a late Friday night seafood dinner at Top Deck in Hong Kong.

  • Dinner with Todd & Mina (Crown Wine Cellars, Hong Kong): Deep sparkly rich gold colour. Nose is ripe peaches, touch of shortbread, touch of resin, smokiness and creme brulee with just a slight whiff of oxidization. This has a really rich palate with mouthcoating viscosity and petrol elements (evoking teenage memories of siphoning petrol) together with both the taste and texture of ripe banana. Enough acidity to prevent it from becoming cloying ......but this is a seriously heavy wine. Very good length and some in the head resonance on the finish. Over time, the smokiness on the nose became more pronounced and it ultimately descended slightly towords Oloroso Sherry. This is the first time I have been able to take detailed notes on this wine. I really like it, although there is clearly some bottle variation and this was not the best.
