This wine was very dark when first poured for decanting. The amount of sediment was not large. The wine end of the cork was completely inky dark. The wine was very concentrated. At age 17, the wine showed a gripping level of tannins. Dark fruit and spices with very dark fruit, tobacco me mineral. This is not one of those lighter and prettier Margaux. This is a brawny wine with a decade plus to go. Many at the dinner enjoyed the intensity of this wine at this stage. Complexity is there but not yet the kind that would come from further age. With more time the wine will become lighter but that is the give and take. It is a great wine to drink. This will be one of the best from this beautiful estate.

Drank two bottle in a row with friends. Cork was of poor quality and disintegrated when I opened the wine, which made me concerned over the condition of the wine. Fortunately both bottle were perfect examples of good well aged Bordeaux. Clear notes of earth and barn. Still lots of muscles in the wine - but probably need to drink the rest bottles within the next one or two years.

Still very much drinkable but at the life end.

Decanted did about an hour. Surprisingly tannic at first. Gradually opened to show some cherry and other red fruit, along with some herbs and leather.

Lovely fruit and life remaining with terrific balance. A nicely finessed wine.
