2014 red Burgundy tasting w/ incredible whites served blind (Eddie V's - Tysons Corner, VA): Third blind white. I notice Domaine Leflaive on the capsule so no longer blind for me. Incredibly decadent, slightly exotic yet energetic nose displaying apricot tart, lemon curd, medium ripe yellow peach, crème custard, honey, a hint of botrytis and limestone. Excellent concentration, very viscous and rich, decadent yellow fruit driven palate impression, good acidity and a long decadent yellow fruit driven finish. Ken guesses the 88. It helps me a lot but the ripeness and botrytis leads me to ‘83 or ’86. Unbelievably sweet nose with a hint of botrytis, and rich and concentrated palate make this very unique, slightly kinky and absolutely hedonistic. I believe Bryan cellared it since release, a great testament to the importance of proper cellaring.

Shows more age than ideal or enjoyable but perhaps just a bit of bottle variation. There is good minerality and density but ultimately an unhappy wine. Too bad.

Tons of honey/botrytis in a fully mature, lovely 25 year old white. For a while, it was better than a 1986 Leflaive Batard tasted side by side. But only for a while.
