  • light - Med golden. Darker than the Leflaive. Some secondary note on the nose but it is incredibly youthful on the palate. Floral, chrysanthemum, sweet spices, cold herbs, roasted nut and touch of honey.

Vibrant on the palate, such gracefulness. With growing intensity and richness and expanding on the palate, light spices, thyme, rosemary. Mineral. so juicy, hazelnut, very long and engaging. The power at the back is amazing but it is also a bit heavy at the very end.

Sitting in the glass for a good 30-45mins, and this has evolved. Showing even more youthful both nose and palate. Stunning complexity, subtle delicate but underlying powerful is excellent, delineated, great tension, so lively and love the minerality. This has overtaken the Leflaive 1992 Pucelles drinking next to it. (Yuzu, passionfruits and mango sorbet!)

  • 0734/1158. Advanced (as do her wines in this vintage, it seems), but still crystal acidity that resolves to tremendous clarity in time. Lovely reduction, minerals, salt, meat, violet. Stunning weight as her 1er crus, with a complicating palate that is the quintessential d’Auvenay. 95

  • When this was opened prior to a dinner of 97 DRC Montrachet, 99 Jayer Echezeaux, and 09 Liger Belair La Romanee I joked this this could very well be WOTN... and for 3 out of 4 tonight it was.

The D’auvenay richness was impressive but the high toned acid from the vintage and the floral Puligny character is what makes it unforgettable and so special.

It is so thrilling it literally gave me shivers when drinking it.
