  • needs to open as it's youthful in first taste. Good cork condition suggests aged well.

  • Delicious plummy Chianti aromas. Appears young, fresh and generous, and das not have this woody aromas like many riserva's.

  • "Vino da Tavola Riserva", made from Sangioveto, Canaiolo and Colorino. Aged for 24 months in Slavonian oak botti. Served from a magnum.

Dark, almost fully opaque figgy maroon color that betrays the age of the wine. The nose feels dense and quite concentrated yet not particularly big or opulent, with elegant, tertiary notes of dried dark fruits and figs, some sweet smoky tones, a little bit of leather, light sous bois tones, a sanguine hint of iron and a touch of sweet cherry. The wine is full-bodied, ripe and gently sweet-toned on the palate with layered flavors of black cherries, dried and gently bitter sour cherries, dried dates, a little bit of raw, bloody meaty character, light autumnal forest tones, a hint of dusty earth and a touch of smoke. The wine is surprisingly high in acidity with ample yet ripe and firm yet textural tannins. The finish is long, juicy and moderately acid driven with gentle tannic grip on the gums and rich, developed flavors of dried dates, some oxidative, raisiny sweetness, a little bit of ripe figs, light black cherry tones, a hint of sour cherry bitterness and a meaty touch of umami.

A lovely, rich and concentrated Chianti Classico Riserva with sense of weight and still quite impressive structure. There are layers upon layers of flavors here and although the overall character feels quite aged already, every now and then some finer nuances of youthful freshness peek through. However, seeing how evolved the wine was even from a magnum, I think that it doesn't have that much age left. The magnum can keep on - maybe even evolve - for some years more, but wines bottled in standard-size bottles might be peaking now. All in all, a beautiful, classic Chianti at its best. Just so very lovely.

  • (from magnum) Youthful still, with a nose of graphite, dusty cherry, earth and leather. Firmly acidic and medium bodied, it will last for a while longer but probably won't get any better (for my tastes).

  • Millimeter unna gjennomtrukket kork. 91p.
