[Tasted Blind] This pours medium purple in the glass, no bricking. Aromas are of plum, grape, violet, tar, light rubbery reduction, and baked ginger snap. The palate shows a very classically Italian structure with purple violet and plum against medium plus tannin and medium plus acid. The finish is lovely replaying the nose. While there is enjoyment to be had here, this is still very much a young wine. To my palate there is room for improvement and this could pick up a point or two as it ages. Guesses were in Central Italy. Either Sagrantino or Sangiovese. One taster played the odds, knowing the hosts cellar, and guessed correctly this was a wine from Montevertine.

Wimps Free For All - October 2022 Oruro (La Trompette): This was excellent. A classic chianti blend (sangiovese, canaiolo and colorino) but famously not labelled as such. On the nose it plays the hits - dusty red cherry, tomato sauce then on the palate wonderfully intense red chery but supremely elegant (are we allowed to say Burgundian???). A wonderful balance of intensity but lightness. I can see why this is so highly praised.

Wimps Free For All - October 2022 Oruro (La Trompette): Evidently made from two Sangiovese clones. Lovely nose - a tannic structure I couldn’t quite put my finger on. None of the sourness i often associate with Sangiovese - a style of wine I struggle to think my way around - enjoying half a bottle over the course of an evening would be a great pleasure but even as it is - lovely.

Tuscany at Terra Rossa (Terra Rossa): This wasn't a shouty wine, but it seemed to have a winning appeal. At first I found the weight of fruit slightly too sweet, but with a little time that settled down and the wine's inherent harmony began to express itself. Plenty of acidity, supple, compelling. Delicious with meatballs and seemed to be in a great spot. Group WOTN

Reserved nose, quite structured yet with a good line of acidity, sweet red fruit and a touch beyond savoury for this taster, yet well balanced with fine tannins.
