Librandi Trade Tasting (Fairmont Singapore - Prego): Medium ruby. Aromas of cassis and Kirsch, as well as some trampled grass and twigs. Some fruit and floral intensity, with flavours of lilac, strawberry, cassis, blackberry, twigs and bark. Some heightened tannins, but thankfully the medium plus acids and fruit intensity matched up. A fair finish

Plummy nose with toasty cinnamon, fennel, roasted almond and leather. A warm and comforting nose. The palate is rather minerals with dry blue fruits and lots of grilled meat. Smooth and somewhat fat in the mid-palate which has multiple layers of flavors. Rounded structure. A touch more fresh acidity would make this wine more interesting. Finish is filled with velvety tannins and dark plummy chocolate. Need an hour in the decanter for the palate to open up. If you can let it age for a couple of years, this should turn out to be silky and complex.
Retasted in Dec 2019, nose is more chocolaty with sweet blueberries, roasted almond and fresh fennel. Less mineral notes. Palate remained the same, rich, spicy, warm and intense. Good depth with minimal decanting required now. Still youthful and can continue to age for 3 more years. This will last easily for 5-8 yrs.

Really fascinating selection - first exposure to this varietal. Nutty oak, mocha, dark chocolate, ripe dark fruits, and licorice on the nose. On the palate espresso, blackberries, plum & anise tart, dried garden herbs, with a suave mouthfeel.

Excellent. Never heard of this Calabrian varietal. Chocolate, tobacco, black olives and dark cherry.
