Absolutely gorgeous nose! Very nuanced and continuously changing and evolving in the glass, it had notes of red fruit, olives, brine, and dried flowers. There is still a good tannic structure on the palate with nice acidity and notes of tart cherries, red fruit, and a bit more brine. The finish lasts forever. What a pleasure to drink right now, I feel we caught this at the very peak. We drank this next to the 1998 Cote Brune and the 88 took the lead by a hair.

What a beautiful, effusive nose, fully resolved, a touch volatile, and possibly slightly on the downhill slope - but undeniably attractive and complex. There’s a tremendous amount going on aromatically - musky, red fruited, warm soil, leaf mulch, ferruginous, roast meat, tomato paste nose. Very broad.

Deep purple and inky after all these years. Nice fruit with notes of leather, black fruit and cigar box. Tannins have receded nicely, but the wine remains quite lively for its age.

Earthy, forest mushroom, slightly herbal nose, then gorgeous sweet fruit, explosive mid-palate, smooth, rich finish, perfectly resolved and at peak, with all the signature Jamet strawberry/spice/herb complexity.

Vibrant and dense dark red fruit. But a lot of bret on this bottle. Damp dark soil tones.
