Gorgeous nose with lots of floral character, violets, and cherries. The palate is quite light, but has lovely flavors of cherries, some savory notes, and black olives. Nice finish. Really lovely wine, fully mature and drinking deliciously right now. Definitely more on the subtle side and much less powerful than some wines next to it. I probably liked this quite a bit more than most people at the table.

Jamet's 1995 Côte-Rôtie, while I've had some bottle variation, is quite good tonight with an ebullient nose of dark berry, black pepper, bacon, and violet. Dense fruit, balanced acidity, lithely structured with a persistent finish.

Jamet Day (Ada St.): Unfortunately a grumpy bottle with a muted personality and inelegant fruit. Some debate as to whether this was corked but I think it was just a weird bottle.

Jamet Day (Chicago, IL): I originally thought this was corked, but upon further reflection, I don't think it was (it was just funky). That said, this was pretty chunky and inelegant, and there just wasn't that much of interest here, sadly.

Flickinger Customer Appreciation Tasting (Casino Club - Chicago IL): Walk-around tasting. So much dense black fruit here with an alluring aromatic start. Very long, very firmly structured finish. Not clear where/ when this will deliver the great pleasure it develops in most vintages.
