Rutherford distinctive nose of clove, blackberry, oak. Cola and chocolate intermingle with dark fruits. Good balance. Not a giant killer, but an excellent wine. However, at $32 I'd rather buy Honig.

Really like this wine, disappointing Provenance has been purchased, feels like by a winery who wants to make low ball wine and get it in every diner. Sad

Decent CA Cab for value. Seems like it could benefit from age, though might never mature to the level of elite. Enjoyed for a date night at home alongside steak frites.

Tasted blind against a 2015 Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno, and I didn’t get it. I didn’t even cellar this properly (25 degrees centigrade for 3 years). Apart from the obvious Old World characteristics, I was just blown away by this wines complexity and depth. Ripe flavors of dark cherry, raspberry, black currant with secondary notes of terracotta, rusted pipes, vanilla on toasted oak. The acidity and fruit were kept in great balance with an earthy finish that lasted more than 30 seconds with hints of dark chocolate. Best I’ve had from this producer whom I’ve been following since the 2004 vintage. Drink now until 2030.

Bold, rich, delightful. No rough edges but plenty of depth. Dark stone fruit, cocoa.
