  • This wine was tasted in double-blind fashion at Vintage Wines, Ltd. The bottle was kindly provided by Ken Johnson. Opaque garnet robe with some bricking at the rim. Clean and very intense, complex nose of ripe plums, saddle leather, vanilla and earth. Full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, medium sweet tannins and flavors mirroring the nose. The middle palate is full and the smooth finish is long. This is a wine which has reached a very nice level of maturity and should drink nicely over the next 4-5 years. Drink now-12/15.

  • Typical nose of a slightly cooked cabernet, a bit of medicinal, currant and leather, but the finish was completely absent. Good thing that the wine had some fruit left. Must have been a big fruit bomb in it's day. Very interesting wine for me in terms of the complete lack of a finish for this wine.

  • Very clean color and no sediment. Characteristics of smoky black fruit, lots of tobacco, menthol, gravel and a hint of bell pepper. Rather austere on the nose but the palate shows a little softer. Bright, stony finish. This showed (thankfully) less acidic than last bottle and will likely improve over the next 3-5 years. However, it is a soulless, industrial wine. What a waste of good terroir.

  • A nose of sweet cherry, minerals, tobacco and a banana note. Medium bodied on the palate with little fruit and grassy flavors. Searing acidity on the austere finish. I hope that another 3-4 years will smooth this out a little. Very similar to a Clos du Val cab (which is not a good thing from my perspective).
