Wines Tasted at the La Paulée Verticals Session (The Maybourne, Beverly Hills): Light ruby. Spicy, high toned fragrance. Elegant medium weight. Earthy, tangy black and blue fruit with a gentle texture but perfect background acidity and tannin to provide shape. A drier finish indicates that it is not yet totally mature, but it's not that far away from its peak. Delicious, that's all. The best of the 3 vintages poured, and for me, a prototypical, mind's eye Vosne Premier Cru which I would drink every day if I could.
The bouquet is cool and quite restrained at the beginning - a longer aeration (6 hours in the bottle) would certainly have had a positive effect here. With a little patience and a swirl of the large Burgundy glass, the depth of the wine becomes more and more apparent - quite magnificent! Cool, very clear and pure, rather dark berry, black cherries, dark rocky notes and the classic Vosne spice come through. The palate is extremely pure, focused and the depth and energy cast a spell over you. Powerful, dense, cool and mineral and core. The lively acidity - supported by a very noble tannin structure - blends in perfectly. Aromatically a mirror image of the impressions of the nose, rather dark fruit aromas, black cherries as well as noble, mineral-earthy spice aromas. A really great, typical Les Suchots that is only at the very beginning of a long life of enjoyment.

The Verticals Tasting at 2023 La Paulée (Eventi Hotel, New York): Light ruby. Best balance and texture of the 3 vintages poured. Fine dark red fruit and soil equally weighted, very fine grained tannins. Excellent with the prospect of continued improvement.

La Paulée de Los Angeles - The Verticals (Maybourne Hotel - Beverly Hills CA): Walkaround vertical tasting. Rich and dense red cherry and berry with an intense concentration, both from vintage character and old vines. So bright, great length. This needs more time but is perfectly Vosne styled.
