An excellent Barolo with the classic markers of sour cherry and dried roses with accents of black licorice and dried herbs. Tongue coating texture cleansed by natural acidity and firm tannins which linger persistently through the long finish.

Gorgeous on the nose, but tense and closed on the palate. Aromas of cherry juice, liqueur and distillates, roses, perfect roses, minty herbs, licorice, balsam fir, petrichor, dried mushrooms... this is bold and exuberant on the nose... tense and tannic on the palate, it slowly opens up, but the tannins are grippy and intense and dominate everything, tannins are fine enough to think that this will smooth out eventually, but it's gonna take another 10 years I think. Gorgeous wine, old school and wonderful for that.

Knights of Alba (KOA) NY Intronization - May 2023 (NY Private Club): Interesting to see this one being so much bigger and more intense than the Vigna Rionda - would not expect it given the communes they are both from. Perhaps the year driving. Darker fruit. Slightly herbal. Again a solid barolo.
