  • Dark red color. Medium to full body. Smells of pepper, pencil shavings, leather and plum. Really, really nice Batailley.

  • Showing very little colour change at the rim; developing fruits on the nose, spice and cassis, blackcurrant leaf; lovely on the palate, a classic Pauillac, with graphite tinged cassis and herbal refreshment. This is going strong. Its not the most complex but a solid 1986. Some tannic bite on the finish.

  • Nice bottle with good level. Decanted for 1hr and already showing very well.
Still deep core garnet, not showing it’s age at all.
The nose it’s typical aged Pauillac: leather, lead pencil, library, dark and red berries, coffee, tobacco. Very intense.
It’s like you don’t want to start drinking yet.
In the mouth the flavour are quite intense, Tannins are completely resolved, savoury, Medium body, with The same dark and red berries with coffee and chocolate notes.
    Fairly long and very enjoyable.
We had it with Chinese hot pot and it’s excellent.
Still has many years to go

  • Kapow!

This wine is just winning me over more and more. After 45 minutes of air, this beauty came to life and expressed itself majestically. Again - horsebarn, dry dirt, pipe-tobacco smoking tired SOB walking back from the fields with a hint of manly musk and a foul mouth. This wants to be brawn over brains and you just want to let it do its thing. It is not trying to elegant or heavenly complex like Lynch Bages, Pichon Comtesse or Lafite. This sucker just wants to have fun and go out with a bang. You just hang on for the ride. And what ride!
Tobacco, dry leaves, autumn forest floor, perfect mature red and dark berries with a well integrated oak and tannins. After an hour said meat and autumn decay sets more in. Wow, I like this.

Great QPR and fully matured. The peak will last about 5-6 years due to the integration of tannins. After that who knows?...
    Worthy a try!
