Deep purple-crimson. Fantastic, powerful nose: blackcurrant cassis, cedarwood, mint, with chocolate developing while it sits in the glass. A real explosion of red and black fruit on the palate and in the mouth, with stewed cherries and some cocoa flavours. Spicy tannins, and a very long finish of fruit and spices.
There’s still a good wallop of tannin, although it’s softening after a few years in bottle. But the fruit is so vibrant and lively that this Platter five-star wine will definitely continue to improve for a couple of years to come.

Deep red, youthful appearance, emerging nose of ripe beryy fruit, some oak, attratcive. Smooth on the palate with gentle tannins & good balance & length.

Plenty of ripe blackcurrants with moderate tannic cut. Has youth on its side but also a confusing mix of green and simple sweetness. At £20 this is about where it needs to be.

Nose of black cherry and tobacco. Quite tight initially but started to loosen up after 30 mins to reveal a balanced dark fruit finish. Very enjoyable but would leave for a few more years to gain more complexity

Good, ripe, blackcurrant, full, a little leather, finishes with a spicy heat; pretty much what you'd expect from a good SA Cab Sauv.
I didn't find this particularly complex tonight, but I imagine another 2 to five years might lift the score just a tad.
