Blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera. Drank with Jorgen. Dark rich and sumptuous. Great fruit and tannin very relaxed. Definitely a very nice blend of both grapes.

La Spinetta masters the art of creating the perfect balance in their wines and they do that very well for this blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera. Great intense, dark fruit - like cherry and plum, but clearly of the darker type - at the ideal ripeness make this very sapid. Amazing how a blend of 2 of the Piemontese varieties are essentially evoking another one, namely Dolcetto, with the dark fruits. Somehow this is very compelling as it demands your full attention. A smokey touch and well integrated, but strong tannins - an obvious Nebbiolo contribution - complete the picture, which also includes a nicely long finish.

Day 1 - Nose is great. Note of floral, petals with bright red fruit. Palate shows rose, soft and generous. Really nice and not overly tannic.
Day 2 - Still floral on nose - transforming into a touch of iodine. Fresh red cherry. Still generous with broad acidity. Ripe in character with warming but pleasant alcohol. Touch of dried fruit/herbal on finish. Very good, still drinking really nicely
