I rarely enjoy drinking Lignier's CDLR without 20+ years of age but I must say that this showed such delicious ripe cherry fruit within a classic structured package. A ripe and more exotic example of this great wine that should nevertheless turn into a beauty with time. At Zachys BYOB La Paulee. 93+

Some nice Burgundies (Chicago, IL): I think this was better today than when I tasted it from barrel just before the covid pandemic. Without a doubt this is incredibly ripe, but the fruit is so silky, sweet, and seductive that it makes this wine almost too easy to drink. Surprisingly as well, the colour of the fruit is more red than black and this wine was actually lighter than I remember it being. It wasn't too structural at first, but followed the progression of a young nebbiolo in that the tannins seemed to manifest themselves more with air. An incredibly bottle of wine and one of the favourites at the table tonight.

Barrel Tasting at Hubert Lignier (Morey St. Denis): Unreal aromas here with so much power, layering and intensity of red fruit, spice, florals and earth/clay notes. Significant concentration with impeccable pinpoint balance. Texturally complex. Rich and concentrated yet elegant. Long+++ and no signs whatsoever that this is from a 'hot' year. 95-97+

Zachy's La Paulee 2022 (Le Bernardin Prive): Decanted. Just massive, lacy purple fruit, toned and tasty already. 94+
