Dry Riesling and Burgundy night (Olea, New Haven): A very nice, though not a great bottle, although the fill on this was a touch low. At first it feels slightly faded, but the red fruited flavours and dried rose petals/other floral notes perk up with some air and it becomes a little fresher with some time in the glass. Augmenting the fruit are also gentle earthy and leathery notes, though there's also some faint oxidative and black tea notes that suggest this is on the downslope.

LdC does Mecca - Saturday (Tampa): Full bright red color. Lovely floral red fruit with some bright acidity and sweet notes. Lovley red and black cherry on the palate with a nice dose of spice. Lovely, but not quite up to the June bottle. 94+ pts.

Very complex, meaty even. A singular experience.

Great Older Wines at the Place to Drink Great Older Wines; 2/8/2008-2/9/2008 (Tampa FL): Slightly disappointing. Good floral aromas with red fruit, but rather simple. Palate showed a bit more red and black cherry, also some interesting mushroom flavors and textures, but was somewhat simple for this wine from an ok vintage and a top producer.

Not a virgin anymore - My first dinner at Bern's (Bern's Steakhouse, Tampa, FL): Dinner at Bern's. After drinking 13 bottles must admit to my notes big brief and difficult to read. Nice nose of soft red fruits.
Nice nuanced flavors, but a bit chunky. A very kind gift from Chris.
