Classic Allen nose of ferrous minerals and medicinal cherry. Quite developed and fully mature with a creamy, silky texture and tasty flavors of cherries and minerals. Lighter-bodied with terroir-driven notes of iron minerals and cranberry/cherry spice. As a Burgundy lover, the fruit is still a bit sweet for my palate and there is minimal complexity but this has still aged pretty well. Definitely time to drink up.

Light ruby red in color. A touch cloudy. 14.2% ABV. Pretty nose of red fruits, cloves, cola and forest floor. Medium body with strong acidity. The wine appears advanced in age but the flavors are fresh and vibrant. Cherries, cranberries, earth and minerals on the palate. Nice length on the finish. Showing better than recent notes I have seen on this wine would seem to indicate. Best over the next 1-2 years.

I was encouraged by the previous evening’s strong showing of the Flax Vineyard variant from this producer and vintage, but this suffered in comparison. Some obvious bricking and a slight brownish hue kicked things off. Nose was a bit reticent. There were some very pretty and elegant red fruit notes, but acidity was missing and the overall flavor profile was flat. Not bad, just disappointing compared to others I’ve from this producer. Missed the peak here by at least a couple years.

{bought on release, perfect fill, exc storage; bit of crumbly cork}. Very floral attractive nose; pronounced cola and red fruits on palate, somewhat candied, spicy middle palate. Over 90 minutes faded a bit. 90-91 at peak overall, 89 pts after 90 minutes and the candied element increased. Time to drink up. If had more would drink in next 6 months.
