From 75cl, good cork, final 3mm grey and spongey. Wine golden like a Riesling of similar age or - I'm afraid - a Sauternes several years older. Lots of oak on the nose, still decent acidity on the entry, even some juicy grapefruit action, but definitely a couple of years too old for pleasure. Even for me as an occasional fan of old white Rioja, this seems oxidised, musty and over the hill. Picking up a bottle as a closeout item today for just under 8 EUR was a no-brainer, but - cancelling my plans for tomorrow evening - the others will remain firmly on the shelf where I found this one... If you have it in the cellar, drink up; if you live in Germany and are passing by a Kaufhof store in the next few days, this is an interesting and inexpensive lesson in Wine and Time. (Interestingly, Parker suggests a drinking window until 2018, and Hugh Johnson's pocket guide (2013) still lists this as a drinkable vintage). 83P(?)

Litschifruchtbutter, sehr einnehmende Nase, trocken-herb, richtig gut und überraschend!

This was very mediocre. Maybe an off bottle? I tasted this at the merchant in 2005, and it was 1 of my top picks. Too bad :(
