Wine paired excellent with roasted boar Bolognese sauce. This is a more traditional version of a Roncaglie Vineyard barbaresco. Definite notes of leather, earth, dried flower and very subtle dried red fruit.

I decanted half of the bottle and drank over 2-4 hours. Flavors and aromas consistent with other reviews on day one.
I saved the other half in bottle for two days (with cork in), and found it was at its best then. Red fruit, dried carnations, and a nice compliment of cured tobacco and tar notes on the nose; more notable the balance of this wine improved on the palate, with the astringent finish now more subdued, and a decent fruit-driven midpalate.

90 - 92. Decant for at least an hour to blow off stink and help integrate chewy tannins. 85 before decanting, 90 - 92 after. This has several years left with plenty of fruit.

Decanted 2 hours Very little sediment in bottle Appearance:Translucent and brilliant. Typical Nebbiolo appearance Nose:cedar on the nose, leather tones, sour cherries? Taste:Tannins somewhat still stiff. Nice bit of fruit coming through tannins, somehwat weak and lacking a strong back end. Ends in a bitterchocolatge taste. Average bottle not impressive.

A steady aromatic flow reveals a contrasting battle for attention between bright fruitness and strong tea, taking place on grounds of moist earth, dark chocolate and cool herbs (fennel bulb, chervil). The fruit is charming and approachable (berry peels, dark cherry, clear strawberry juice), while the more rustic elements are well complemented by the dryness and a pronounced astringency on the palate. The finish is clean; only flavorful marks and hints remain; a form of balance is struck. Decant, peaks at 1 - 1.5 hours.
