A Spontaneous & Inspired Sunday Afternoon (Los Alamos & Los Olivos, CA): An absolutely stellar showing. No reduction of note. The nose was intense and irresistible, with powerful fruit and floral notes intertwined, together with gravel and a bit of honeysuckle. Tremendous intensity on the palate, with the minerality coming to the fore, more so than the fruit. Amazing tension and power. The wine is still fairly early on in its development, but as it warmed I did detect just a hint of that sought-after buttered popcorn aspect that bodes well for those lucky enough to have some, and patient enough to wait.

Chez W, decanted 30 minutes, levels fine, first bottle corked, second clean and wonderful, pale and leggy; fine, rich bouquet, nut, stone, lemon, peach and apple; medium, long, persistent, concentrated, tending to the broad slightly fat flavours of the vintage and ideally would show slightly more citric zip, but this is a minor quibble for a VF (18.5) wine with bags of life!

A classic example of Coche. Booming nose of nuts, lees, spices, minerals, stones, lemons. Tangy acidity. Amazing texture. Round and generous. These wines are so incredibly unique. Like a bowl of razor cut diamonds. Searing precision.

Coche-Dury and Domaine Rousseau Dinner (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): So ripe and rich to start with spice, roasted walnuts and lots of apple. Ripeness follows through on the palate, but everything is so perfectly balanced with great structure, that this comes across as so seamless and harmonious. Wonderful now, with upside.

Slight oxidation not as honeyed as 05 nor as dense. This is a good wine but not great.
