Started out a little subdued with baked apple and vanilla creme...squeeze of lemon, slight sour tart austerity to it...NOT poxed...but not too exciting at the pop n pour. Totally blossomed and expanded with air! Rich yellow orchard fruits...apple and apricot...wonderful waxy creme to the wine, with chalky crushed stone minerality, flint strike smoke...subtle caramel apple and butterscotch spice notes as well. The citrus was ample and kept the brightness lite...pretty florals...but I really loved how soft and subtle...with the right amount of mushroom and honey maturity the wine had...and a waxy dry texture, slight spearmint...a little Raveneau-esk. Went amazingly well with this forager mushroom cavatelli pasta dish! Very happy with this bottle!

Surprisingly zesty with good lively fruit. Perhaps a touch short relative to the superb 08 and 16 tasted side-by-side.

Beaune 1er Cru Tasting, in Both Shades (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): 05/06/08/16 vertical. Rich apple, some peach, spice and floral hints. Best within 30 minutes after popped-and-poured, slightly less interesting when finished.
