  • Often overlooked in Lignier's portfolio, the Charmes ages so well and this '99 was off the charts tonight. Lovely Grand Cru lacy texture with such fine and succulent cherry fruit that leads to a fabulously complex finish with this incredible red floral note to go along with classic cherry spice and fine minerals. So lifted and so pure with perfect ripeness and intensity. A red Burgundy caught at its apogee from a perfect bottle!

  • Of the 3 Charmes in the blind flight, this was my favorite. It possesses the wild cherry mineral crunch of mature Charmes and is silky pure with a bit of structure hanging on off the good acidity. I just loved it on the perfectly taut finish with a lick of that wild cherry spice again. Awesome juice!

  • Great red burgundy 1999 horizontal tasting (21 wines) - semi blind (Nordsjaelland): Aromas of cherry, cooked - even a little jammy - fruit.

  • At Tru in Chicago. Deep red color, no hints of age. This was stunning for its depth and purity of fruit. It is a fruit profile you find nowhere else than Burgundy. Initially somewhat tight on the nose, but with air it just bursts forth with phenomenal red cherry, cranberry, mineral, and floral notes. In the mouth, tart red cherry and cranberry fruit paint a picture of purity and elegance that is refreshing and powerful. Supported by ample acidity, piercing minerality, and a fragrant, graceful floral note, this wine embodies the iron-fist-in-a-velvet-glove personality. Drinking it is like kissing a standoffish but beautiful woman ... she comes off cold and steely but melts against your lips. Superb finish with some tannins. A
